Willow Center provides free group support to children, teens, and their adult caregivers who have experienced the death of someone close. The groups are coordinated by mental health professionals and trained volunteers to promote the expression of grief and loss, the understanding of death, loss and the process of grief, and to decrease feelings of isolation associated with grief.
The groups meet the first and third Tuesday of every month for an hour and a half. Groups are delineated by age: Pre-school group (3-5 years), Primary group (6-9 years), Intermediate Group (10-13 years), and Teen Group (14-18 years). We also hold a concurrent support group for the adult caregivers/parents of the children that are attending. Click here to see what Willow Center participants have to say about our program. This is a family focused program with the belief that to truly assist the children and teens in their process of grief, we need to engage the family/caregivers in a supportive way to build healthier coping, communication and connections for the whole family.
To attend one of our groups call the Willow Center office to schedule an intake appointment: (208) 791-7192, or our Family Support Line: (509) 780-1156; or you may email the center: ed@willow-center.org.
